The V-Ray 5 release has come with some fantastic updates. It has also come with some less publicised updates. Leaving some users wondering where the VRayHDRI map has gone, and if it is gone, what map do I use to load a HDRI into V-Ray?

In short, the VRayHDRI has been renamed VRayBitmap in V-Ray 5. In older versions of V-Ray we would add a VrayHDRI map from the Material Browser and plug it into our Dome Light.

Versions previous to V-Ray 5 had a VRayHDRI map

Now in V-Ray 5 we can use a VRayBitmap instead and plug it into our Dome Light.

The VRayBitmap has replaced the VRayHDRI map

You can see the Parameters are pretty much the same and just the name has changed.

If you open an old scene in V-Ray 5 you will notice that it will automatically update to a V-Ray Bitmap.
